The 2010 AMEC Convention was held from 1st to 3rd June at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre. AMEC has held an industry congress in Perth since 2005. The primary focus of previous events has been investment presentations from AMEC member companies. In 2010 AMEC undertook to restructure this event in line with similar world-class mining conventions such as PDAC in Canada, Mining Indaba in South Africa and China Mining.
The AMEC Convention 2010 focused on recent mineral deposit discoveries and the challenges facing future discoveries. It brought together industry leaders and business representatives from throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. The topics discussed included Discovery Successes, International Investment and Finance, Commodities, Issues affecting the Business Environment, Science and Innovation and Government Initiatives.
The AMEC Convention incorporated an Investment Forum which gave over 30 mining and exploration companies the opportunity to present to an audience of shareholders.
The exhibition area provided mining companies, service related organisations, research groups and suppliers the opportunity to inform delegates of their activities, product ranges, services and innovations.
AMEC would like to thank the Convention sponsors - Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Australian Health Plans, DDH1 Drilling, Digirock, InnovX Systems and Teck Australia, and supporters - CSIRO, the Western Australian Government through Geological Survey of Western Australia(GSWA) and Department of State Development, the Universities of Western Australia and Curtin and the associated Centre for Exploration Targeting (CET), and the Federal Government through Geoscience Australia.
AMEC would also like to thank all of the resources companies who participated in the event.
